Fenbarn son of Fenfisc

Etimology

Fenn (“mud”, fen”, “marsh”) + bearn (“child, son”)

Background

He was born in Fenmarch in the late Third Age.

Far away from danger, he grew up as a fisherman and a boatman, rarely riding in those marshy lands. He grew tired from his life and the opportunity for a change came when he saw the Beacon of the Halifirien lit up.

He took the only horse in his family and rode to the mountain.

There he met the Warden of the Beacon, who taught him about the Oath between Eorl and Cirion. Then Fenbarn understood what he had to do: in that hallowed place, he swore to ride with the King and fight Sauron’s forces.

He joined the riders on their way to Gondor, and on Pelennor Fields he was told to fight with Èomer’s Èored.

In that battle, Fenbarn’s horse was killed, and he almost lost his life, but he was helped by Béoræd.

After the battle they became friends, Béoræd taught him how to fight and Fenbarn joined him at the Battle of the Morannon.

At the end of the War of the Ring, #ing Èomer gave the leadership of the Èored of East-Mark to Marshall Béoræd, and Fenbarn swore to fight with him to the end.
